How did you get into the beauty and hair care industry?

I have always known how to do hair. After college I went into the financial industry. I started off as a bank teller and then Mortgage underwriter. The company I worked for as an underwriter was laying people off and it seemed like the writing was on the wall. This prompted me to look into being a hair stylist as a break from the corporate world.  Sometimes what seems like a really bad thing happening turns into a amazing opportunity and Natural Hair was born!

What’s New in the Business or in the Franchise Model?

The process of expanding and multiplying the business is new and exciting.  I get calls, emails and constant reminders that what we do really isn’t available in other markets and people really need the Natural Hair service offering in so many places.  I’d like to be able to bring the offering to people and really help people in other areas.  I can’t do it all myself and the idea of sharing the model and my experience with others who are looking to get into business for themselves is really exciting.

Where do you See Opportunities or Challenges for the Franchise/Business Moving Forward?

The services offered by the business are in high demand, making this the perfect time for opening more locations to address this need and demand. Once a location is set, the business can begin making money right away.  We need to make sure we get the right people, this is a business that a owner needs to be passionate about and love.  It can’t be something a person would invest in just to make money, sure that’s part of it, but the real reason this works so well is that we genuinely LOVE what we do.

What is your Goal for the Business Moving Forward?

Building a strong brand and a strong team.  I think that with the right franchise partners and a never ending, complete dedication to customer experience and customer results, we can literally capture this entire market segment.  I’m so excited where the business is going and for the people who will join us, we have so much to offer and so much to share.

Talk to us About Training and Support, How Do You Deliver for Natural Hair Studio Franchisees?

We have a comprehensive program and franchise training overview we have put together.  It literally covers everything you could need to do this and to start a location of Natural Hair Studio.  The collateral and content is complete with  a detailed franchise operations manual, franchise training processes and documentation and complete support, mentorship and guidance in every step of the business model from build out to customer service.

Your most difficult moment at the Franchise Business?

So far, the beginning stages of setting up and building the Franchise Business while keeping up with the day to day demands of the business.  We are constantly busy, I literally had to shut down our advertisements for a while because the demand is so high we just can’t keep, which of course is a great problem to have!

What does Your Franchisee Do in the Business Every Day?

Th average day requires focus on details to help make clients happy with the salon’s services. Long days include meeting clients, supervising employees, maintaining the appearance of the salon and managing the books.

Who is the Ideal Franchise Candidate?

A licensed hair stylist who is comfortable in working on curly hair!
Seriously, someone who loves people and loves helping people.  You need to be a good communicator and be ready to roll with the punches each day brings.  It’s a ton of fun if you have the right personality for this.  Honestly though, we would love to talk with anyone considering joining us, we don’t judge!  If it’s not a good fit, we will very nicely say that, but we love to meet people and would be happy to entertain any applicants.
