How did you get into the industry?

My story is unlike the typical fitness studio owner. Around 2016 I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia which caused me to have extreme joint pain. My doctors told me that exercise may help decrease my pain, so in light of that, I joined a local group fitness studio. However, as I stayed committed to their workout routine the traditional workout method only worsened my joint pain. I was having difficulty with the workouts and either injured myself trying to keep up or had to leave early because I just could not finish with the group. I was becoming increasingly frustrated with myself and decided to search for a better fitness routine for me. I started a google search for high-intensity workouts without joint stress and of course, swimming was the first on the list, but it was just not for me, the second option was bungee fitness, which was perfect for me! However, as I entered “bungee fitness near me” in my search bar there was nothing near me. So, feeling defeated I went back to my group fitness studio and after a few more times being unable to complete the workout, I went home and started researching bungee fitness.

I could not believe all the great benefits of working out on a bungee such as;
low joint stress, core engagement, high intensity and fun! I knew I had to bring this fitness concept to my community and help people that could not use traditional workouts just like me. So, I decided to take the leap of faith and become a certified fitness instructor and I also obtained my bungee certification. My next step was purchasing my bungee equipment as well as searching for my own space. Then I found the perfect spot and Fly To Fit Bungee Fitness came to life. The craziest part of this story is that my first time taking a bungee class was when I reached it on the day we opened. Then just like all of our clients, I fell in love with bungee. I knew I needed to help people like me who had no other options. Ever since then, I am happy to say I have heard many of our clients tell me that this is the only workout that works for them and makes them feel like they are part of our “bungee community” then the rest is history. Now I am trying to make sure everyone can have the option to work out using bungee fitness and help people who are feeling hopeless and defeated.

What’s New in the Business or in the Franchise Model?

Just like any other business in the fitness sector, we are always trying to improve our business. Since fitness is one of the fastest-growing sectors and bungee fitness is one of the fastest-growing niches we are making sure that we are ahead of the curve. Unlike other bungee fitness studios, we are finding new classes to offer to market to people from the age of one to one hundred! As of right now, we are working on classes that are in a “mommy and me” style. This entails mothers working out with their children. This gives both the mother and child a lifelong memory and also helps them create a stronger bond. We have been running trial runs of these classes and have seen great success. We also offer mobility-impaired classes. This helps target
people who are struggling with their disabilities. We have a handful of clients who have found bungee and have seen monumental improvements. It is also noteworthy that these improvements have allowed us to meet with their monthly support group as well as a local neurologist. So, as the months are going on we are seeing many new clients in our mobility-impaired classes that are finally able to exercise the way they want and need. We also offer parties that help target large groups of people that wouldn’t usually take a bungee class. We have had children’s parties and corporate parties. This is something that is not seen in other bungee fitness studios. Lastly, we also offer children’s classes. The children all love these classes and we see that they are full every time we offer them. With all of these ongoing improvements, we see that we are once again able to target people aged one to one hundred.

Where do you See Opportunities or Challenges for the Franchise/Business Moving Forward?

We see many opportunities in the local communities. With bungee fitness having so many benefits such as low joint stress, core engagement, high intensity and fun we can work with many local establishments. Especially schools for agility sports like gymnastics and cheerleading. But, any sport needs agility training so we have seen teams from football to lacrosse and many more. We are also working with local neurologists and support groups to help clients learn about our mobility-impaired classes. We are also looking to add a party room. This would allow us to add upcharges like food, decorations, etc. Lastly, we work with local businesses and charities for donations. We donated free classes, merchandise, etc to get our name out there. So, our only issue is that there are only 24 hours in a day.

What is your Goal for the Business Moving Forward?

Our goal is to make sure that we stick to our core values. We want to make sure that everyone feels safe and welcome. We also want to make sure that everyone has the opportunity to try bungee no matter what. Most importantly we want to make sure everyone is having fun and has a smile on their faces. So, we want to make sure that bungee fitness is an option for people who are out of options.

Your most difficult moment in the Franchise Business?

Just like any other business, the pandemic was a challenge for us. But ever since the restrictions have been lifted and society has started to go back out into the world we have been busier than ever. But just like every person in the world, the pandemic was a time of fear and uncertainty if life would be back to normal.

Define your Franchise Model:

A. Training and Support Model?
The franchisee will have one to two weeks of training at Fly to Fit headquarters about administration, operations, and sales/marketing. This entails on-the-job training with the franchisee spending time at the location and working in the business itself. There will also be training at the franchisee’s location when the franchisee commences operations at their Fly to Fit Model for approximately one week to assist the franchisee in the commencement of operations. So, as we stated before, we are going to support you every step of the way.

B. What is the Fee Structure?
As stated in the franchisee brochure the initial franchise fee is thirty thousand dollars. As well as a six percent royalty fee for gross sales.

C. Territory Definition?
Your franchise is for a specific location with exclusive territory. This means that you will not have to worry about other Fly To Fit Bungee Fitnesses opening up in your territory.

D. Day in the life of a Franchisee?
A franchise owner’s day will look similar to any business owner’s day. Some days will focus on daily operations, training and staffing, while others are spent focusing on marketing and sales. The day-to-day activities will depend on the specific goals of the franchisee.

What does Your Franchisee Do in the Business Every Day?

This will all depend on your level of involvement. If the franchisee is going to be in the day-to-day operations some tasks could be; teaching classes, speaking with potential clients, helping resolve issues with current clients, payroll, product orders, etc. However, if there is a manager delegated to handling things like
client interactions and making sure that the studio is running smoothly, you can deal with things like; payroll, product ordering, and sales tracking. It all depends on how hands-on you are.

Who is the Ideal Franchise Candidate?

Our ideal franchise candidate is willing to put in hard work to be successful. We want someone willing to look at a challenge and tackle it head-on. We also want someone who is accepting of everyone and wants to give people the ability to work out who has not had this ability. We also want a candidate that is going to give the client the best possible experience at the studio. We want someone who is going to be truly passionate about this business and be willing to put in extra hours. These are all skills that are very important to us. But, we are sure that you have all these necessary skills and cannot wait to see them all!

What Goals Do You Have for the Franchise Model in the Future?

One of our biggest goals is to make sure that you are successful. We want to make sure that you feel confident that you made the right choice by investing in us. We hope to see a Fly To Fit Bungee Fitness in every state. But, most importantly we want our franchise to continue to help people like we have seen day in and day out at the corporate location. We want to grow and evolve with you and make sure that you can be just as successful!
