How did you get into the franchise industry?
The Franchise industry was explored at first to purchase another franchise. Through friendly conversation, the idea to explore franchising Kayla’s Italian Ice was discussed. Cobb Galleria was hosting a convention of start-up Franchise businesses, it was there that the Co-Founder of Kayla’s Italian Ice, met Chris Conner the owner of Franchise Marketing Systems.
This conversation led to much research and discussion if this would be the right move for Kayla’s Italian Ice. Instead of investing in a local store, the decision was made to take the money and invest in a Franchise marketing team to expand to a franchise industry to assist others in opening up different locations of their own.
We would not only be investing in our future but others as well. Instead of growing one location, we can grow many to their full potential with the right training and support along the way.
What’s New in Kayla’s Business or in the Franchise Model?
Our Franchise model allows several options for people to open their establishment and create additional income for themselves. We have a simple model that many people can follow if they use the tools and resources we provide them to get started. This can be a full-time or part-time business, that any owner can grow with. This franchise provides franchisees with the opportunity to start with a pushcart/food truck and elevate to a business location selling merchandise with additional products to expand the revenue being driven over time.
Where do you See Opportunities or Challenges for the Franchise/Business as it relates to Kayla’s Italian Ice Moving Forward?
Our Franchise has the opportunity to become worldwide. The way to do that is by partnering with other businesses to get the product out in front of new customers. A challenge for a franchise owner is not promoting the business locally or not using all the tools that have been provided to be successful.
What is your Goal for the Kayla’s Business Moving Forward?
To have a successful franchise as an international brand for generations to come and leverage it. We want to help others be able to be successful like my daughter and I have been able to enjoy building Kayla’s brand together.

Franchisees would update inventory, and promote new business by advertising in the community for upcoming events and organizations to partner with. Exploring business to business opportunities for regular delivery and events. Providing a time management structure for all employees, providing good feedback on records kept regarding sales, and high revenue peak hours. staffing control, cleaning, maintenance, inventory and advertising. Providing a good atmosphere to work in helps the overall morale of the organization. Having team meetings keeps all employees engage in the goals and mission statement of the company. Listening to innovative ideas on how to get more business from the team who works in the location day to day.

The ideal candidate for Kayla’s Italian Ice franchise is a person who has to be self-motivated, driven, willing to learn and happy to serve. A positive attitude can take a person through the toughest times.

A solid team who provides a great experience must be able to persevere even through adversity. Success stories are enjoying the process and enjoying the growth over time. Finding solutions to problems that may happen. The failures of franchisees are not promoting/ advertising and not utilizing the tools provided. If a franchisee does not understand or know their target market, demographics or buying customers based on their location, it may put them in a position to fail.
What Goals Do You Have for the Franchise Model in the Future?
Our goal for this franchise model is to be a household name globally. Making sure this brand is a game-changer that many other organizations are familiar with, dynamite product and service that is provided consistently at every location. A product that people are willing to pay for. Every time a customer tastes an Italian Ice they are enjoying an experience with their colleagues, friends, family, and children and sometimes alone on a quiet bench, with Kayla’s Italian Ice dream mango flavor that hits their palette and allows them to savor every moment or in the corner office on a break.
