How did you get into the industry?

Art was the class I got A’s in. LOL I have always had the natural gift of being artistic and the creativity part followed. I would see things and want to recreate them for myself for half the cost. Holidays and Birthdays were always thought out and made from me. No matter what non-artistic profession I had, I ALWAYS had a side hustle painting murals, doing pencil drawings, making cookies, and being creative for fun. It has always been my passion.

What’s New in the Business or in the Franchise Model?

Something I offer that is not offered anywhere else, is being able to come in solo, or with a few friends and not needing an appointment. It is a WALK-IN art studio. What you want can be created on sight and made within an hour and a half. It’s not your typical art studio. There are painting classes and signs yes, but walk ins can make anything from a welcome sign with a lantern, A child’s shelf for their bathroom for toothpaste, a cup and add a towel hook to it. You can add all kinds of elements and accessories to your piece like coat hooks and fairy lights. The possibilities are endless and no one leaves with the same piece. Non creative people LOVE it because they are painting and gluing. We take the pain out of painting. I also have GLOW parties which I dreamed up in my basement. A painting experience in the dark and has been my #1 birthday party for kids.

Where do you See Opportunities or Challenges for the Franchise/Business Moving Forward?

The opportunities are endless. We are starting to move forward with T-shirt painting parties. Guests will be able to choose their own custom design and put it on the option of their choice like a t-shirt, tote or canvas. Other walk in possibilities are customized glasses, plates, mugs, that are designed by the customer and made by us within 30 minutes. Ready to use or gift to someone within minutes.

What is your Goal for the Business Moving Forward?

My overall goal for the business is to be able to reach and connect this to creatives to build a brand that was made for individuals like us who do not have creative jobs and are in positions that do not require an artistic background. Artists can now make a living off of what we do best and are not using it for a side hustle anymore. Artists were made to create and we are doing just that. It’s a very satisfying thing to create something like this and have this as my brand.
My personal goal is to build and create a free standing building that offers many party rooms for all the options we have here. There is not ONE party that can’t be customized. The possibilities are endless and the customer can make it happen just by talking to one of the artists to bring it to life easily.

Talk to us About Training and Support, How Do You Deliver?

There is a 2 week training period at the studio where we will go through each product and service we have to offer. This will also be done when the studio is open. You will know how we treat our customers and not only about how to create but really how to create a personal experience for everyone that walks through the door. Training is also given about the individuals self motivation. Having and owning your own business is not always easy. There are things we will want to do and things we do NOT want to do. I will go through the mistakes and struggles I have made in the past so you don’t have to! It comes with 5 years of experience and why I am still in business today. You will learn what it takes. Encouragement and persistence are discussed and just as important in the training as well.

Your most difficult moment at the Franchise Business?

My most difficult moment was not knowing what comes next. How to sustain a business with no business background. Knowing what the numbers are and how they are persuasive. Being a one woman show with no one there to offer advice or to be asked if they needed help. I’m sorry did you want ONE moment? I wished there was just one! Lol!

How is your Franchise Model Structured?

Fees, Model, Systems, Etc. Initial franchise fee is $25,000, start up on th studio can range from 70,000-90,000 as you see fit and how you want to start. There is a 6% Royalty The business model is to create anything that is teachable to someone who is not experienced and is able to create with ease and to be satisfied with the end result.

What does Your Franchisee Do in the Business Every Day?

Make their studio their home. Discover and create new crafts, paintings, events, walk-in signs. Order supplies needed for the parties. Stock your products. Find motivation. Seek out social media and talk to customers. Build email lists and create excitement for yourselves. Do what you were born to do! (oh, and balance your checkbook) boring!

Who is the Ideal Franchise Candidate?

I would say ideal for artists or creatives but It can also be a teacher who is a fast learner. Out of 7 girls that I have working for me right now, I am the only artist. 4 out of 7 are teachers and fast learners. If you have the ability to create and love it you can most certainly do this!

Success Stories and Failures with Franchisees?

There aren’t any yet to tell. There has been a ton of interest since I even mentioned I was franchising. One will be selling soon if it is not gobbled up by someone else first.

What Goals Do you Have for the Franchise Model in the Future?

To be the #1 Art experience/facility nationwide that is a household name that offers quality, fun, and a wholesome way for everyone to come and create.
