How did you get into the industry?

I worked in restaurants throughout highschool and college so had a good foundation on how they run, operate and what I enjoyed about serving people. After 9 yrs in corporate America working for AT&T I wanted a change in my life. I felt a passion for being an entrepreneur and had a vision for what would eventually become Simply Done Donuts. I am originally from the Dallas, Texas market where there are 100’s of donut shops but in Atlanta there are so few and it seemed like there was a good market opportunity and a need for what we could offer. That is when I took the leap and bought my first donut machine and started making donuts!

What’s New in the Business or in the Franchise Model?

There is a big transition in the donut market segment. More and more you are seeing brands that represent the category with a higher quality product, good, clean branding a business model that offers a donut product that is really a better product than what people were accustomed to in the past. We feel that with Simply Done Donuts, we are in this space and embrace the better donut category. Not just the product, but the entire customer experience is aiming for that premium brand level within the donut market.

Where do you See Opportunities or Challenges for the Franchise/Business Moving Forward?

We love the franchise market and potential for entrepreneurship, it really is the best of both worlds in combining business ownership and leveraging buying power of a larger network, we are thrilled to be in the franchise business. I guess the challenges would be the “sometime coming in the future” Recession, over saturation of sweets/donut in the market and finding good locations, but we feel like we have great solutions to overcome these potential obstacles to growth.

Also, we feel there are very few mini-donut operators out there today and everyone is into a healthier lifestyle. The Mini Donut allows you to enjoy and partake without feeling guilty about indulging!

What is your Goal for the Business Moving Forward?

To expand and be a national brand, we are very passionate about bringing what we do to more people in more markets around the country.
