How did you get into the behavioral health services industry?

As I was mentoring children in 2011 I noticed that many children we were supporting were on the Spectrum and needed additional support and resources. At that point I realized that there were not places in Central Virginia for children on the Spectrum to get services and get the help they needed. As a result RCG Behavioral Health Network was birthed with the focus on providing health and support to kids that fit this description and were on the behavioral spectrum.

What’s New in the RCG Business or in the RCG Franchise Model?

This is new concept to the franchise world, it’s an opportunity to support an emerging $140 billion behavioral health industry.  In our time operating RCG and working with so many families and children, we’ve recognized that the need is not limited to Virginia, this is a national, even global need and the decision to franchise the business stemmed from the market size and demand.  We want to help more kids, more families and provide more resources.  Franchising is the vehicle that allows to bring the RCG value proposition and services to more markets around the country and even the world.

Where do you See Opportunities or Challenges for the RCG Franchise/Business Moving Forward?

Their are major opportunities, today there is an increasing incidence of Autism Spectrum Disorder among youth in the US. 1 in 36 children 8 and under are diagnosed with Autism up from 1 in 150 in 2002. We currently serve 110 children and have 450 children on the waitlist to receive services. This offers new franchisees the opportunity to get in on the ground floor of a service that is highly in demand.

What is your Goal for the RCG Franchise Business Moving Forward?

The near term goal is to award 8-10 locations throughout the state of Virginia, thus making us the largest provider in the state. We want to accomplish this while also remaining the most desired behavioral health company to work for and for children to receive services.  Our focus is to replicate the model we have successfully built and refined over the years of operating our company owned clinic.  We want to be careful, selective and deliberate about our franchise growth and only intend to do this with partners that exhibit the core traits and character we see as center to our company’s culture.
