How did you get into the fitness industry?

Early in my career as an orthopedic and sports physical therapist I realized the importance of long term exercise and began developing an exercise system to help clients build strength and improve movement so they could be healthy, active, and pain free.  It was more so the fitness component that helped achieve the results so I began teaching my system to fitness professionals.  Most fitness programs focus on weight loss and neglect the movement component.  As a result many people with injuries, poor movement, or chronic diseases are unable to get the benefits of exercise but instead get hurt or are deflated when trying to start an exercise program.  This is especially true for most adults over the age of 50.  Although our program will help anyone improve movement, build strength, lose weight, and achieve lasting health, we do target adults over 50 because as a group they need it more.

What’s New in the Performance Therapy Fitness Business or in the Franchise Model?

We are constantly refining our program to increase results and retention.  In addition to improving the program for clients we are always looking to improve our marketing and business solutions to better help franchisees acquire customers.

Where do you See Opportunities or Challenges for the Franchise/Business Moving Forward?

As a whole, the 50+ fitness market is grossly underserved.  There is a huge opportunity to provide a value to this population.  Our business is designed to help clients move better and gain functional strength and solves several problems that are not currently being address by other fitness programs and business’s.  With the amount of people that need our program and our ability to market and speak to their needs we will not have any trouble acquiring customers and retaining them long term.  As a result I don’t see many challenges moving forward.

What is your Goal for the Performance Therapy Fitness Business Moving Forward?

My goal is to help as many people be healthy, active, and pain free.  As a physical therapist and someone who worked in the medical field I want Performance Therapy Fitness to be integrated into the medical system.  My goal is to have it be common place that patients following physical therapy treatment or patients who need to lose weight, gain strength, improve balance, etc seek out and recognize that Performance Therapy Fitness is the solution.

Your most difficult moment at the Franchise Business?

My most difficult moment happened about 3 months after starting.  We had an employee issue and because we didn’t have all the systems we have now in place, the business suffered.  It was a good lessen and allowed us to make the adjustments so our franchisees wouldn’t have to go through the same struggles.
