How did you get into the industry?

I was born and raised in the food and beverage industry. I owned my first restaurant at the age of 21.

What’s New in the Business or in the Franchise Model?

This particular business is based on a system I have create to simplify the operation side of things. With the current difficulty we face with staffing in the service industry, my focus was to create a business model that is easy to operate with minimal staff and low payroll costs.

Where do you See Opportunities or Challenges for the Franchise/Business Moving Forward?

The opportunities are great with this business. Churros are a popular dessert and don’t really have a market leader in this segment. Our goal for Chiki Churros is to become that household name everyone knows. This can be accomplished utilizing many different sales avenues to popularize the brand.

Some of the challenges we will be facing as we grow are the same as any other business. We have to stay ahead of the curve with new menu offerings , better working protocols and a strong brand awareness from continues marketing efforts.

What is your Goal for the Business Moving Forward?

My goal is to keep working on my own 2 locations and improving them as they grow. This will be done by investing time to develop revenue streams such as catering, events, food truck and wholesaling. This will help establish our brand as we grow the franchise and bring brand awareness.

Secondly, I will be working hard to grow my franchise with people who are dedicated and passionate about restaurant business. My goal is to have at least 50 franchises sold in 5 years.

Talk to us About Training and Support, How Do You Deliver?

The training and support for the first 10 franchises will be taken care of by myself exclusively. The first franchisees will have the benefit of being trained by me. This will ensure that the businesses are being run the most efficient way possible. I will be present as discussed in the FDD document and brochure for the start of the business and will probably dedicate even more time to the first 10 franchisees to keep a close eye on their development.

Your most difficult moment at the Franchise Business?

Setting up the whole business has been quite challenging. From opening 2 locations myself to
establish the business in Florida to setting up the franchise company. The journey has just begun and I’m sure I will face even more challenges once the franchise is up and running.

Define your Franchise Model:

A.  Training and Support Model?
All training and support will be conducted by myself to begin

B.  What is the Fee Structure?
6% royalty 2% advertising 1-3% local advertising

C.  Territory Definition?
The territory can be discussed with the franchisee. All areas are different and population density is different in many different areas. Territories will be determined by distance.

D.  Day in the life of a Franchisee?
Eat, sleep and breath Chiki Churros

What does Your Franchisee Do in the Business Every Day?

The franchisee should be present in his store or stores to overlook the operations and make sure that the quality and standards are always at their highest. They need to spend at least 30hrs per week working in their own store. It’s important that the owner interacts with the customers and creates a relationship with them.

Who is the Ideal Franchise Candidate?

The perfect franchisee would be the person who is 100% dedicated to this business and is not
distracted by other businesses. The person who wants to grow with Chiki Churros and open even
more locations. The person who is not afraid to work in the business when it’s needed.

What Goals Do You Have for the Franchise Model in the Future?

My goal is to grow a healthy franchise that everyone benefits from. With this I will be able to expand the business and set it up for national expansion. I believe that in the state of Florida alone I can open over 50 locations across the state. Once this is accomplished expanding to other States should be a fairly easy transition.
