How did you get into the industry?
I struggled with my own body image after giving birth. I had to find ways to get back in shape. I constantly exercised, changed my diet, but still couldn’t get the body I wanted. I sought out new ways to improve the body and found non-surgical treatments. I got trained and found it to be profitable, so then found other professionals who could also carry out the services.
Let’s discuss some challenges that you’ve faced and/or some successes you have encountered.
One of the challenges that I faced was coming to the realization that everyone has their own shape and body goals. It’s never a one glove fits all approach. This industry requires a lot of detailed questions in order to create a customized treatment plan for each patient. Once I found a solution to this challenge, I was able to come up with a successful process for developing these customized plans. Everyone has their own ideology of what perfection is — something as simple as listening well to each client can provide a successful outcome for every patient.
Is there anything that you would like to add regarding your training and support model?
With all cosmetic treatments, especially non-surgical, there are a lot of details. This is why I provide tons of hands-on support and training for my staff and will provide that same support for our franchisees. They will also benefit from our refresher training that is conducted by a top surgeon here in Florida. Franchisees will be guided in detail how to achieve surgical results with non-surgical methods.
What does your franchisee do in the business every day?
Every day isn’t the same. They will come in at 9am, check emails and respond to appointment requests right away. It is vital that franchisees respond to all requests quickly, otherwise they will lose that patient. Throughout the day they are calling patients, doing consultations, and conducting procedures. They are doing product inventory for the week and for that day. Also, franchisees will be collecting money from paying patients and booking patients. Franchisees must always be on their toes, because anything can go wrong — you have to always be ready for anything. It’s a fast-paced environment full of multi-tasking.
In your own words, describe the ideal franchisee.
An ideal franchisee doesn’t have to be a physician. They have to have a vision and be willing to think outside the box. In this field you are always learning something new, so all franchisees must be willing to learn. They need to have amazing customer service, be detail oriented and know how to manage money. Honesty is important. If they have medical background, that works well. But anyone with a background in the financial industry will do very well because they understand how to manage a business’ budget.
What are your goals for your company in the future?
By the end of the year, I want more than one location. In the next 5 years, I want to be worldwide. I don’t just want US territories. We want to see Smooth Body Contour throughout different countries — we already have patients come to us from outside the U.S. Our goal is to make Smooth Body Contour a brand that is known worldwide.
