How did you get into the plant medicine industry?

I’ve always been a fan of plant medicine but it was my being actively involved in the industry in Florida since 2013 when we first tried to legalize cannabis for medicinal use.  Our family was very involved with the petition and getting signatures.  Then in 2016 I got involved with a magazine and in 2020 I opened my first brick and mortar store in Miami Beach.  I’ve always seen such an opportunity to help more people and open up a world of options for people to live better lives and be healthier through Plant Medicine.  Planta Rx is basically the culmination of my years working, researching and being in the industry.

What’s New in the Business or in the Planta Rx Franchise Model?

We have added mushroom products and will be adding other plant medicine products as the year continues.  We are constantly researching not only the best health and wellness products to use with our clients, but also the best vendors, suppliers and resources so that our franchisees are able to capitalize on the work we are doing and execute at the store level.

Where do you See Opportunities or Challenges for the Franchise/Business Moving Forward?

The plant medicine world is expanding very quickly and we are going to see a big growth opportunity.  As the market takes shape, more and more people will be looking for professional resources and brands in the industry that they can trust and count on providing them with solid advice and high quality products.

What is your Goal for the Business Moving Forward?

50 franchises, international distribution and local distribution.  We want to become the trusted, premium quality provider in this industry.

Talk to us About Training and Support, How Do You Deliver?

We will work with franchisees to help open their store, train their staff, market their location and manage inventory.  We train both at the location and in the Territory and also at the corporate location in Miami Beach.  It is a fully structured program to efficiently launch a new Planta Rx Franchise.

Your most difficult moment at the Franchise Business?

The laws around CBD/Hemp and plant medicine are constantly changing and keeping up with them can be challenging.  Fortunately we have good counsel and are ahead of the industry requirements to stay compliant.

What does Your Franchisee Do in the Business Every Day?

It is crucial that the franchisee has a true owner’s mentality.  The day may be spent “putting out fires”, engaging in sales, placing orders, cleaning, fixing, bookkeeping, doing inventory, changing a lightbulb or any other issue that may come up in a day!  Ultimately, we help people feel better, have healthier, more fulfilling lives and just make people happy, it’s a great business and every day can be a lot of fun to see how you can impact people in a positive way.

What Goals Do You Have for the Franchise Model in the Future?

My vision is to have franchises in the US so that when there is federal legalization we can convert the units into marijuana dispensaries.  Additionally, the International market is beginning to open up and we have a very strong focus on the Hispanic market to help educate them and provide them with quality products.  We see so much opportunity on the horizon, this entire industry segment is just taking shape and we feel Planta Rx is very well positioned to be the leader in this market.
